Aquatic Warbler
The aquatic warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola) is an Old World warbler in the genus Acrocephalus. It breeds in temperate eastern Europe and western Asia, with an estimated population of 15,000 pairs. It is migratory, wintering in west Africa. After many years of uncertainty, the wintering grounds of much of the European population were finally discovered in Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, Senegal, with between 5-10,000 birds present at this single site. Its south-westerly migration route means that it is regular on passage as far west as Great Britain and Ireland. Its dependence on a specialised and vulnerable breeding habitat means it has become a globally threatened and declining species. It is more yellow-brown and streaked than the simliar sedge warbler.

Arctic Skua
This species breeds in the north of Eurasia and North America, with significant populations as far south as northern Scotland. It is a migrant, wintering at sea in the tropics and southern oceans. In the British Isles, they breed in Shetland and Orkney, the Outer Hebrides, Sutherland, Caithness, and some islands in Argyll. A medium-sized dark-looking sea bird with pointed wings, and pale patches at the wing-tips.

Arctic Tern
This bird has a circumpolar breeding distribution covering the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of Europe, Asia, and North America (as far south as Brittany and Massachusetts). The species is strongly migratory, seeing two summers each year as it migrates along a convoluted route from its northern breeding grounds to the Antarctic coast for the southern summer and back again about six months later. Recent studies have shown average annual round trip lengths of about 70,900 km (44,100 mi) for birds nesting in Iceland and Greenland and c. 90,000 km (56,000 mi) for birds nesting in the Netherlands. These are by far the longest migrations known in the animal kingdom. Appearing white with a black cap, it is largely coastal although it can be seen inland on migration.

Avocet
They breed in temperate Europe and western and Central Asia. It is a migratory species and most winter in Africa or southern Asia. Some remain to winter in the mildest parts of their range, for example in southern Spain and southern England. A distinctively-patterned black and white wader with a long up-curved beak.
